Please reach us at wilionscheerleading@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
A Facebook page has been created called WI LIONS CHEER EXCHANGE (https://m.facebook.com/groups/485374016744486/?ref=share&mibextid=ykz3hl ). The site is independent from Lions Cheerleading but if you would like to sell your old uniform and/or purchase a uniform from someone else that would be a great place to make an offer or a listing. Lions Cheerleading has no control over the pricing of these transactions and is not responsible for any transactions that take place. We are simply passing on the information to our members. We will also hold a UCA uniform fitting/order for the incoming new members in June if you would like to purchase a brand new uniform from Varsity. The uniform for the 2024 season will be identical to the uniform used in 2022-2023.
BUST/CHEST: With arms raised to shoulder level, measure around fullest part of the chest. WAIST: Measure snugly around body at waistline. HIPS: Measure around fullest part of the hips. SKIRT LENGTH: Measure in back from the natural waistline, over the hips, to the desired length on leg. Note: Have your child hit a high V motion with their arms. If their stomach shows you may consider getting a larger size.
Registration for the 2024 season will be open from April 1st through May 1st.
For competition cheer members the birth year in alignment with the SCYCA restriction dates. The registration site will tell you what team your child is eligible for when you enter their birth date. Field Cheer teams will be more flexible in age and determined based on enrollment numbers.
After registration closes, the Board will assess if any teams had registration exceed the maximum number of roster spots allowed for that team. In the event that more registrations come in than Competition spots are available for any level, evaluations and selections will be held to fill the roster. After evaluations participants can consider another program with availability for their age group.
On the registration site, there is a section for Volunteers. If interested in being a volunteer for your child's team select Yes and you will be emailed with information from our Board. At the start of each season the Board has a meeting to determine the coaching staff for each team. These decisions are made year to year, new people are always welcomed to get involved and help. There will be a virtual interview via Zoom for each applicant. All positions are volunteer based and require a serious commitment. We are doing away with the term "team parent" all adults involved will be considered coaches and the responsibilities will be divided keeping in mind each persons personal strengths. One head coach will be appointed to each team for final decision purposes but it is expected that all coaches work well together throughout the season to benefit of the children in our program. If you are interested in returning to the coaching position please select coaching on the volunteer option of the registration process. If you already registered your child and you would like to get involved please email the Board at wilionscheerleading@gmail.com.
The days of the week are dependent on age and won't be finalized until the teams are established, but for ages 5-8 we are looking to practice 2 days a week, 9-13 would be 2 days a week in the summer and possibly increased to 3 days a week as we get ready for competition season in the Fall (September-November).
Practice is most often held in the late afternoon-evening. Some of the elementary school children do not get off the bus until 4:00, so we will try our best to make sure practice times are made so that all of the team members can attend.
We are hopeful to have the practice schedule established in the late Spring once everyone has registered and teams have been finalized. As soon as the competition schedule is posted for next Fall we will share those dates as well.
The season officially begins July 1st, practice is flexible over the summer, we understand that there are family vacations and other fun events in the summer. Once the kids are back in school, attendance at practice needs to be more of a priority.
The competitions are all over Long Island. The official schedule for next year has not come out yet, but in the past competitions have been held at Hauppauge High School. Sachem North High School, Bay Shore High School, PAC - All Star gym in Wantagh, just to name a few. Once the official schedule comes out we will share the locations immediately.
